VFW to help send bulletproof vests to Iraq

The Harney Point VFW will hold a special presentation at 2 p.m. Saturday when the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission makes a donation to the troops serving in Iraq.

JoAnn Adams from FWC has agreed to provide some bullet-proof vests to Sgt. 1st Class Spencer Kohlheim of the U.S. Army and his company.

Kohlheim's mother, Maureen Kolheim will accept the gift, since her son is currently stationed in Iraq. After the presentation, the VFW will ship the items overseas.

"We're going to pick up the tab," said VFW 8463 Commander Ken Corr.
