To Leave or not to leave Iraq

Today I came across a fun new interactive debate website
www.opposingviews.com and this was the debate that caught my eye Should the U.S. Immediately Begin Withdrawal from Iraq?

I feel compelled to weigh in. Simple answer is absolutely not.

The invasion of Iraq right or wrong happened. We are there for the long haul like it or not whether it takes another five or ten or twenty five years. We have invested far too much blood and treasure there to just let the Iranians take over control in our absence. The Kurds would undoubtedly be vulnerable to our allies the Turks in the North. The Turks cannot tolerate a semi-autonomous Kurdish region on its border. The scenarios of a weak Iraq being split up and annexed are real and the alternatives would make our near 6 years there look like the good times for Iraqi people. If you are a real humanitarian it is impossible to contemplate Iraq with out our support right now.

"You break it you bought it" is so true. I would love for the US to leave Iraq now but I am not prepared to support the irresponsible withdrawal of our forces. To do that especially to appease left wing special interest (peace) groups during a Presidential election season is not a option. No responsible Commander in Chief would do so on tactical, political or humanitarian grounds.
